CUFE MBA Education Center Successfully Holds a Seminar on "Improving Case Writing Skills and Sprinting for Top 100 Cases”
In order to further improve the level of case teaching in the Business School, develop enterprise cases, combine theory with practice effectively, and enhance students' learning experience and application abilities, the seminar on "Improving Case Writing Skills and Sprinting for Top 100 Cases" jointly organized by the CUFE MBA Education Center and the Department of Organization and Human Resources Management of the Business School was successfully held on May 9 at Classroom A20 of the MBA Education Center. More than 30 people, including Professor Zhu Fei, deputy director of the CUFE MBA Education Center and deputy dean of the Business School, teachers and supervisors from the Department of Organization and Human Resources Management, as well as teachers and students from both inside and outside the university, attended the meeting. The seminar was chaired by Zhang Hongyu, an associate professor from the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management.
At the beginning of this seminar, Professor Zhu Fei, deputy director of the CUFE MBA Education Center and deputy dean of the Business School at Central University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech at the seminar. He emphasized that case-based teaching is an important component of business education, which can fill the gaps and deficiencies in empirical research and provide rich practical content and inspiration. Future business administration researchers should attach equal importance to both empirical research and case studies.
At the seminar, Professor Liu Pingqing, director of the Research Center for Common Prosperity and Human Resources Development of Beijing Institute of Technology, delivered a keynote speech titled “How to Use Cases to Carry out Teaching Activities Better”. He combined his own experience in writing case studies to discuss the challenges faced in teaching, the advantages of excellent cases, and the methods for polishing excellent cases. He pointed out that a good case study should be unique and novel in theory, and should be profound in content.
Subsequently, associate professor Ma Lin from the Department of Leadership and Organizational Management of the School of Economics and Management of Beihang University described the development and writing of top 100 cases from the perspective of writing and described the review criteria for top 100 cases from the perspective of review with the theme of "Thoughts and Experiences on Writing Top 100 Cases". She said that a good case study should cover all aspects, such as the typicality of the topic selection, the rationality of the layout, the focus of the content, the objectivity of the materials, the readability of the case and the standardization of writing.
After the sharing by the two teachers, there was a heated discussion on site. The attending teachers and students expressed that they had benefited greatly from the seminar, and the seminar had achieved the expected results. Finally, associate professor Zhang Hongyu expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the teachers at the seminar for their efforts and contributions. She said that case teaching is the top priority of teaching work. Through this seminar, everyone has gained new insights and inspirations in case writing skills and teaching methods, laying a solid foundation for future teaching work.
The successful holding of this seminar has provided new ideas and methods for the development of case teaching in the Business School as well as a platform for teachers to communicate and learn from each other. We believe that the case-based teaching in the Business School will reach a new level with the joint efforts of all teachers and students.
