The Twenty-fifth Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center Successfully Organized
On the afternoon of November 27, 2023, the Business School held the Twenty-fifth Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the lecture series of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center in Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building of the Xueyuan South Road Campus of Central University of Finance and Economics. Professor Liu Yanping from the Business School of Nankai University was invited as a guest speaker for this lecture. Nearly twenty persons, including faculty, doctoral students, master students, and undergraduates, participated in this event.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Mu Shandong, Assistant Professor of the Department of Supply Chain and Operations Management at the Business School. Before the lecture officially began, Mr. Mu introduced Professor Liu Yanping's resume in detail. Professor Liu Yanping is the Deputy Director of the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Nankai University Business School, a council member of the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China, a review expert for the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a review expert for the discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education, and a review expert for the humanities and social science achievements of the Ministry of Education. His research interests include logistics and supply chain management, circular economy, food loss and waste, and rural revitalization. He has published 8 books, published more than 40 papers in authoritative journals at home and abroad, presided over 4 national, provincial and ministerial projects, 1 sub-project of key projects of science and technology support plans, and 1 international cooperation project (the Royal Society). He has visited and exchanged with Cornell University in the United States and the University of Auckland in New Zealand many times.
The theme of Professor Liu Yanping's lecture is “Promoting the Research on Whole-chain Food Loss Reduction in the Context of Rural Revitalization.” This study systematically expounds the current status of food security in China, deeply explores the root causes of food loss and waste and its related economic, environmental and social impacts, further analyzes the relationship between food loss reduction and food security, and systematically sorts out food loss reduction measures in all links of the entire food chain from the perspectives of government, enterprises, consumers, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders.
After the sharing, the participating teachers and students actively discussed topics such as food loss, carbon emissions in the management of the whole food chain, and rural revitalization on the theme of Professor Liu's lecture, which further promoted the in-depth exchange of academic research.
