4 Doctoral Students of the Business School Received the Support from the School's Academic Exchange Program and Conducted Presentation and Communication within the School
On the morning of May 26, 2023, the 4 doctoral students supported by the academic exchange program for students of the Business School gave presentation on academic conference papers in Conference Room 615 in the Main Teaching Building. Doctoral students from different grades attended the academic communication.
Jia Heqi, a doctoral student in business management enrolled in 2019, attended the annual meeting of the Academy of Management and presented her paper titled "Shame of Business Failure and Entrepreneurs' Psychological Well-being: A Moderated Mediation Model" at the meeting. Based on the Cognitive Evaluation Theory of Stress, this paper probed into the impact of stigma of entrepreneurial failure on entrepreneurs' psychological well-being.
Yang Xue, a doctoral student in business management enrolled in 2022, shared the paper titled "Can Large Government-backed Clients Mitigate the Risk of Corporate Debt Default?" she presented at the 9th China Forum of Experts and Young and Middle-aged Scholars in World Economy in April 2023. The paper principally investigated the impact of government-enterprise client relationship on the risk of corporate debt default.
The paper of Yuan Ya'nan, a doctoral student in business management enrolled in 2020, titled "High Deposits & High Loans of Listed Companies and the Risk of Collapse of Stock Prices," was included in "The 20th Symposium on Empirical Accounting in China" organized by the China Accounting Review. The paper performed empirical analysis with the A-share listed companies at Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange during period 2007-2019 as research samples, having systematically demonstrated the inducing effect of "High Deposits & High Loans" on the risk of an enterprise's stock price collapse, from the perspective of economic consequences.
Liu Yang, a doctoral student in technological economics and management enrolled in 2020, participated in the 2022 Production and Operations Management Society Annual Conference (POMS annual meeting) during April 21-25, 2022, and shared a paper titled "Competitors or Frenemies? Strategic Investment in Competitive Channels," which was published in "Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review,” an authoritative journal in the field of supply chain in June 2022. In addition, Liu Yang presented the experience and comments on the participation in POMS annual meeting and academic conferences, including how to find access to academic conferences, how to submit papers to academic conferences, and considerations for conference presentation, etc.
Upon completion of the presentation, the participating students actively asked questions against the information shared by the presenters; the presenters answered such questions with earnest. The 4 presenters expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the School for its academic exchange support program, and encouraged other students to actively participate in academic conferences, broaden academic horizons, build academic networks, and improve scientific research capabilities.
The academic exchange support program for students of the Business School is important measures taken to encourage students to actively participate in high-level academic exchanges, expand the influence of the relevant disciplines of the School, and effectively improve the quality of student development. It has been well received by the students.
