MBA Students of the Business School Won the Runner-up Title in the Finals of the 8th China Management Case Competition

 

On May 20, the "Planet Pointing North" team, the representative team of the MBA Education Center of the Business School, won the runner-up title in the finals of the 8th China Management Case Competition. The instructors of the team, Mr. Liu Shubo and Mr. Zhang Guangli, won the "Best Coach Award." The team was led by Mr. Zhu Fei, Associate Dean of the Business School and Deputy Director of the MBA Education Center, throughout the competition. The finals were held at the Communication University of China.


The 8th China Management Case Competition kicked off in April 2021. The "Planet Pointing North" team, composed of members from two consecutive years, went through campus elimination rounds, regional qualifying rounds, and the final competition, having emerged victorious from the fierce competition among over 2000 teams from 124 institutions of higher education throughout China, achieving their best historical result.

The members of the "Planet Pointing North" team participating in the finals include Yang Huan, Liu Jiaxi, Jin Wei, Zhang Chunjiao, Zhang Mengyue, Che Xiaoyu, Ye Yalei, Shen Shuangshuang, and Wang Qinlong. Previously, the team members who participated in the regional qualifying rounds were Han Ye, Chen Fan, Cui Xiaochen, Cai Ziyang, Fu Li, Li Fei, Peng Wuxia, Pan Xue, and Wang Xueying, with Mr. Zhou Liguo as their coach.

The finals consisted of two stages, i.e., preliminary round and final round. During the preliminary round, the teams that advanced to the finals were divided into three groups. Following 60 hours of intense and challenging case study and analysis, the teams competed against each other in a live showdown on the morning of May 20. In this intense competition, the "Planet Pointing North" team of our school performed exceptionally well. With solid theoretical foundations, keen business insights, and excellent teamwork, they successfully advanced to the final round of the competition as the second-place team in their group.

In the final round, the participating teams from various institutions of higher education faced even greater challenges. Despite having less than 6 hours to discuss and analyze the final case, all teams demonstrated extremely high competitive levels during the final competition that evening. In the on-site PK session, each team showcased their strengths and creativity, presenting an impressive and varied competition, which fully demonstrated the spirit and demeanor of contemporary young management students.

The Business School is dedicated to offering high-quality courses while also providing comprehensive advanced learning experiences and development opportunities for MBA students by organizing high-challenge group activities and competitions. In this competition, Professor Zhu Fei and the two instructors provided in-depth guidance on various aspects, including case analysis, business logic presentation, PPT creation, through to presentation format. The School also offered adequate material support for the participating students, including discussion spaces, printing equipment, and catering services.


The School would like to extend its sincere congratulations to the “Planet Pointing North” team and all the participating students, and is proud of their remarkable achievements in the competition in the competition. It is hoped that the students will constantly pursue excellence and uphold the spirit of unity, perseverance, and innovation demonstrated in the competition in their future academic and professional careers. It is believed that with the efforts of the students, they will surely create more brilliant achievements in their life journey, thereby bringing more significant value to both individuals and society.


 About the Event

The China Management Case Competition is directed by the National MBA Education Steering Committee, and jointly organized by the China Management Case-sharing Center and the Specialized Committee of Management Case Research under the Chinese Academy of Management. It aims to simulate real business battles through the analysis and discussion of hot social and economic cases, thereby enhancing the comprehensive analysis and decision-making abilities of MBA students.
