The Twenty-seventh Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center Successfully Organized

On the afternoon of December 13, 2023, the Business School held the Twenty-seventh Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the lecture series of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center in Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building of the Xueyuan South Road Campus of Central University of Finance and Economics. Associate Professor Jiang Han from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) was invited as a guest speaker for this lecture. More than twenty people, including faculty, doctoral students and master students, participated in this event.

The conference was chaired by Assistant Professor Li Jiapeng from the Department of Strategy of the Business School. Before the lecture officially began, Mr. Li gave a detailed introduction to Jiang Han's resume. Jiang Han received his Ph.D. from the Carey Business School at Arizona State University in 2014. Prior to joining Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), he held faculty positions at Tulane University and the University of Arizona. Jiang Han is committed to the research of social networks, inter-organizational relations, corporate governance and strategic decision-making, international business and entrepreneurship, etc., and has published more than 10 academic papers in important journals listed by UTD and FT over the past ten years. Jiang Han is active in editorial and leadership roles for top academic journals and conferences. Since the end of 2021, he has served as a senior editor at the Asia Pacific Journal of Management. He is also a member of the editorial boards of Strategic Management Journal and Management and Organization Review. Since 2021, he has also been a member of the Macro Research Committee of the International Association for Chinese Management Research.

The theme of Professor Jiang Han's lecture was “The Export and Import Reactions of Chinese Enterprises When the United States Imposes Economic Sanctions on Third Countries.” This study integrates resource dependence theory and global supply chain literature and uses the difference-in-difference (DID) method based on the trade records of Chinese companies from 2006 to 2016 to explore how Chinese companies respond to US economic sanctions on third countries by adjusting imports and exports to the sanctioned countries.

After the sharing, the attending teachers and students actively discussed and had in-depth exchanges on topics such as research topics, mechanism principles, theoretical analysis, research methods, and paper publication in response to Professor Jiang's lecture theme.
