Professor Pavel Castka, Deputy Head of Research at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, is a leading expert in supply chain management and sustainability. He is a member of multiple committees of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He is currently researching stakeholder participation in agricultural monitoring and the social-technical perspective of agricultural enterprises' use of satellite and automated monitoring technologies. His research has been published in internationally renowned journals such as California Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Production Economics, and International Journal of Operations and Production Management.

Professor Castka's lecture was titled "Transformative Transparency in Supply Chains." He pointed out that companies' efforts toward transparency are often criticized for merely legitimizing mechanisms or "window dressing." He proposed a theoretical framework for transformative transparency, exploring how it can drive fundamental changes in businesses, supply chains, and even entire industries and society. The theoretical framework emphasizes the necessity of technological investment, particularly in improving data quality, empowering stakeholders, and applying ethical leadership. The study also uses multiple case studies to illustrate how the theoretical framework can help businesses enhance their social and environmental sustainability.

After the presentation, the attending faculty and students engaged in discussions and exchanges on topics related to Professor Castka's lecture, including global supply chain data transparency and the experience of submitting papers to California Management Review.
