On the morning of April 28, 2023, the Business School held the 2nd Session of the Excellent Academic Forum Lecture Series in 2023 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center at the Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building. Wu You, an assistant professor of CUHK Business School, was invited as the keynote speaker of this forum, and more than 30 people (including teachers, master and doctoral students, and undergraduate students) attended this forum.
Li Jiapeng, an assistant professor of the Department of Strategy of the Business School presided over this meeting and introduced Wu You's resume. Wu You is an assistant professor of CUHK Business School. In 2021, she received her Ph.D. in Management and Engineering from Stanford University. Her main research interests are entrepreneurial strategy, entrepreneurial finance and technology entrepreneurship. She has published several papers in important academic journals such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
The topic of the lecture delivered by Wu You is “The Impact of Initial Public Offerings on Employee Satisfaction: A Study of the Mechanism of Employee Satisfaction Decline Based on Text Analysis Method”. For most companies, an initial public offering is a significant milestone in their success. However, the impact of the participation of public shareholders on company management has not been fully studied. In this research, the impact of the participation of public shareholders on company employees following the IPO is discussed. According to the research findings, there is a correlation between IPOs and lower employee satisfaction.
After the sharing, the attending teachers and students actively participated in the discussion about the topic selection, research framework, theoretical contributions, research design and unstructured data acquisition of Wu You’s research topic, further deepening their academic exchanges. Finally, Wu You shared her experience in publishing papers in English academic journals with them, providing a reference for them to carry out high-level scientific research work.
