At 3:00 p.m., December 12, 2022, the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) held the 25th Session of the Excellent Academic Forum Lecture Series in 2022 online through Tencent Meeting. Zeng Xianju, a professor from the Business School of Hebei University of Technology, was invited as the keynote speaker of this lecture, and more than 70 people (including teachers, master and doctoral students, and undergraduate students) attended this lecture.
Professor Yu Guangtao, deputy dean of the Business School, presided over this meeting and introduced professor Zeng Xianju's resume. Zeng Xianju is currently a professor and a doctoral supervisor at the College of Management of Shenzhen University. Besides, he concurrently serves as the director of the Discipline Construction Office of Shenzhen University, the deputy secretary general of the Chinese Society of Strategic Management, a member of the Youth Working Committee of the Systems Engineering Society of China, and a member of the Special Committee of Enterprise Innovation and Industrial Policy of the Chinese Association of Science of Science and S&T Policy Research.
The topic of this lecture delivered by professor Zeng Xianju is “Research on Strategic Patience under Management Changes: Exploration and Prospects”. First of all, professor Zeng Xianju explained the origin of the research on strategic patience in details and introduced the necessity of the research on strategic patience from the perspectives of Chinese characters, Chinese history, and Chinese business phenomena. Secondly, professor Zeng Xianju described the exploration and prospects of the research on strategic patience in details. In this research, he is mainly committed to exploring how to establish a theoretical analysis framework for strategic patience, in order to further explore the antecedents, consequences and situational factors of strategic patience, and making efforts to conduct case studies on strategic patience to explore the impact of macro institutional levels on strategic patience. Finally, professor Zeng Xianju proposed strategic patience as a practical value in coping with potential challenges in the accelerated evolution of major changes.
In the 80-minute lecture, professor Zeng Xianju systematically expounded the academic thought of strategic patience, concretely demonstrated the thinking process of a scholar in the era of change, and fully interpreted the responsibility of Chinese management scholars to study China's problems and tell China's story: from a vague feeling based on practical observation, to an insightful academic concept, and to a series of systematic and in-depth case studies and theoretical reflections, finally forming an exploratory theoretical framework.
After the sharing, the attending teachers and students actively participated in the discussion, and professor Zeng Xianju answered their questions in an enthusiastic manner, further deepening their academic exchanges.
