At 10:00 a.m., December 8, 2022, the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) held the 24th Session of the Excellent Academic Forum Lecture Series in 2022 and the 5th Session of the Data Science Lecture Series online through Tencent Meeting. Professor Yang Hu from the School of Information of Central University of Finance and Economics was invited as the keynote speaker of this lecture, and more than 30 people (including teachers, master and doctoral students, and undergraduate students) attended this lecture.
Zhang Guangli, an associate professor of the Department of Finance and Financial Management of the Business School, presided over this meeting and introduced the associate professor Yang Hu’s resume. Yang Hu is an associate professor and master tutor at the School of Information of Central University of Finance and Economics. His research interests include big data analysis and statistical computing, social computing, and complex networks and so on. He has undertaken the projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, published more than 20 papers, and obtained 5 national invention patent authorizations. His research results have been published in well-known domestic and foreign journals such as Statistics in Medicine, Information Processing & Management and Comparative Economic & Social Systems. He concurrently serves as the associate editor-in-chief of JoSC, a member of the Professional Committee of Social Computing and Social Intelligence of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and the referee of several journals such as IPM, IJIM, IJPR and System Engineering Theory and Practice.
The topic of associate professor Yang Hu’s lecture is “Detecting Communities in the Attributed Network through Regularized Clustering and Its Application”. This research proposes a learning framework for community discovery in complex social networks, which effectively addresses the challenges and technical difficulties in the selection of network embedding dimensions and the determination of the number of communities. This framework can automatically determine the number of embedding dimensions and the number of communities by optimizing the regularized K-means. Besides, this research also provides algorithms and statistical proofs, which have been applied to the analysis of China's investment network data, confirming the effectiveness of this method.
After the sharing, the attending teachers and students actively participated in the discussion, and associate professor Yang Hu answered their questions in an enthusiastic manner, further deepening their academic exchanges.
