At 12:00 p.m., September 27, 2022, the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) held the 11th Session of the Excellent Academic Forum Lecture Series in 2022 online through Tencent Meeting. Dr. Xu Yongxin, a senior lecturer of Monash University, was invited as the keynote speaker of this lecture, and more than 30 people (including teachers, master and doctoral students, and undergraduate students) attended this lecture.
Dou Chao, an associate professor of the Department of Finance and Financial Management of the Business School, presided over this meeting and introduced Dr. Xu Yongxin’s resume, academic achievements and research fields. Dr. Xu Yongxin graduated from the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University. He is currently a senior lecturer at Monash University in Australia. His main research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance and capital market related research. His research results have been published in internationally renowned journals such as Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Banking and Finance.
The topic of the lecture delivered by Dr. Xu Yongxin is “How Does Individual Investor Information Processing Affect Information Acquisition?”. This research indicates that strengthening the information processing of individual investors would prevent information acquisition. Consistent with this viewpoint, institutional investors are unwilling to participate in investor relation activities after these interactions, and individual investors post less frequently on online investment forums. Finally, the stock turnover rate (Amihud illiquidity) decreases (increases) accordingly.
After the sharing, the attending teachers and students actively participated in the discussion about the topic of the lecture delivered by Dr. Xu Yongxin, and the professor answered their questions in an enthusiastic manner, further deepening their academic exchanges.
