Speaker: Dr Lei Zhao is a professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Tsinghua University, Director of the Operations Research and Service Science Lab (TOpS Lab), and Director of the Transportation Science and Logistics Research Centre. In recent years, he has been mainly engaged in stochastic optimisation methods and their applications in logistics management (especially logistics and distribution management in mega cities), supply chain risk management, and omni-channel retailing and logistics.
Abstract:
Firstly, the basic features of simulation optimisation methods and sequential decision problems are introduced, and then the modelling elements and challenges of Markov decision processes are examined from two perspectives. Then, I will share my research and reflections on the mathematical modelling and strategy design process, mainly in the context of a number of research topics in the field of transport and logistics applications.
