The Twenty-second Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center Successfully Organized
At 12:30 PM on October 19, 2023, the Business School held the Twenty-second Session of Academic Forum of Excellence 2023 of the lecture series of the Business School for the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Establishment of the Business School and the MBA Education Center in Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building of the Xueyuan South Road Campus of Central University of Finance and Economics. The lecture featured Associate Professor Zhao Lima from Stockholm University as the guest speaker. More than twenty people, including faculty, doctoral students, master students, and undergraduates, participated in this event.
The conference was hosted by Professor Yan Nina of Supply Chain and Operations Management at the Business School. Prior to the start of the lecture, Professor Yan gave a comprehensive introduction to Associate Professor Zhao Lima's background. Professor Zhao is a tenured associate professor at Stockholm University, with a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management from WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany. He has previously been a research fellow at the Center for Transportation and Logistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a visiting scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He published the book “Supply Chain Finance” with Springer and has numerous publications in top-tier and authoritative journals such as POM, EJOR, Omega, AOR, and CFO.
Professor Zhao's lecture focused on “Operations-Finance Interface in Risk Management: Research Evolution and Opportunities” This research offers a comprehensive view of the emerging interdisciplinary field of operations-finance, integrating literature across various themes and methodologies. It systematically reviews the scientific advancements in different major research areas from the initial foundational studies to the most recent contributions, and from the perspective of risk management, it proposes potential areas of interest for future research regarding the possible connections and mutual relationships between operations and finance.
Following the sharing session, teachers and students engaged in a lively discussion and exchange on topics such as research directions and submission suggestions, related to Professor Zhao's lecture theme.
