On the afternoon of June 14, 2024, the Business School held the 25th Session of the Series of Academic Lectures Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of Central University of Finance and Economics and the 8th Session of the Excellent Academic Forum Lecture Series in 2024 at the Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building on the XueyuanSouth Road Campus of the Central University of Finance and Economics. Professor WuWeiweifrom Harbin Institute of Technology was invited as the guest speaker of this lecture. The Business School’s teachers, doctoral students and master students attended this event.

This meeting was chaired by assistant professor LiJiapengfrom the Business School. Before the official start of this lecture,professorLiJiapeng introduced professor WuWeiwei’sresume in detail. WuWeiweiis a professor and department chair at Harbin Institute of Technology. He currently serves as the director and deputy secretary-general of Chinese Society of Technology Economics, the vice-chairman of the Emerging Technology Future Analysis and Management Committee of the Chinese Institute of Business Administration, and the editor of Management Science.

The topic of Professor Wu’s lecture is “How Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises Achieve Technological Catch-up through R&D Cooperation: The Edge-core Model”. In the fiercely competitive environment, leading companies try to avoid cooperation with latecomers in key R&D activities, and are more willing to cooperate in non-critical areas. Through case studies, this research proposed the “Edge-core” R&D cooperation model and explored the path for Chinese manufacturing enterprises to catch up with leading enterprises in key technologies through the R&D cooperation with leading enterprises in non-critical areas.

After the sharing, with regard to the topic of Professor Wu’s lecture, the attending teachers and students actively participated in the discussion about research design and publication of high-level papers and so on, further deepening their academic exchanges.
