Recently, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education announced the winners of the 18th Award for Renowned Teachers in Beijing Colleges and Universities and the 6th Award for Renowned Young Teachers in Beijing Colleges and Universities, and Professor Zhu Fei of the Business School won the 18th Award for Renowned Teachers in Beijing Colleges and Universities.
Zhu Fei is a professor and a doctoral supervisor at the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics, and the director of the Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development Research Center of Central University of Finance and Economics. He concurrently serves as the vice chairman of the Human Resources Branch of China Association of Labor Economics, the executive director of the Teaching and Practice Branch of China Human Resource Development Association, and the director of China Human Resource Development Association and so on. As the keynote speaker of Human Resources Management, one of the first state-level online undergraduate courses, he won the first prize of the First Excellent Teaching Achievement Award of China Human Resource Development Association, the first prize of the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, the Excellence Award of the 2nd Beijing Teaching Innovation Competition, the Yongjin Teaching Excellence Award of Central University of Finance and Economics and other important teaching awards, and was selected into the Beijing Youth Talents Program for Colleges and Universities. He has been engaged in teaching the basic course “Human Resource Management” for a long time, focused on the innovation of constructivist experiential teaching methodology, and committed to deepening the teaching content and learning experience and enhancing the effects of higher-level learning; besides, he has been engaged in the research of innovation in corporate employment management, has been committed to high-level academic research with outstanding academic achievements as well as innovative practices research in integration of research, industry and education, and has organically embedded academic research into teaching and social services.
Focus on Innovation of Teaching Methods to Promote High-level Learning Effects
Professor Zhu Fei has been committed to the innovation of teaching methods and leads the teaching team to focus on the “four nos” that commonly exist among undergraduate students due to the lack of corresponding management experience in the teaching practice of the “Human Resource Management” course system, i.e. no familiarity, no liking, no novelty and no deepness and take “learning experience” as the main axis to integrate experiential learning model and constructivist cognitive learning theory, proposed and comprehensively applied the “constructivist experiential teaching methodology” as the methodological basis for this teaching innovation, systematically explored and summarized teaching model innovation, experiential foundation construction, and course content expansion and deepening, and adopted the teaching model of online and offline integration and co creation classroom to carry out the systematic learning of four high-level content modules, i.e. knowledge, goodness, thinking and action. In his teaching, he is committed to deeply integrating value rationality and instrumental rationality and advocating for “management for good", which has greatly improved the teaching quality and high-level learning effects of professional basic courses. While improving students' professional quality, he guides students to shape correct values, which promotes the cultivation of first-class talents.
Professor Zhu Fei systematically developed the online course “Human Resources Management” on the basis of the constructivist experiential teaching methodology. Since its launch on the China University MOOC Network in October 2018, this course has been offered for 9 sessions and has been selected to be promoted on the Xuexi Qiangguo platform. The total number of students enrolled has exceeded 200,000. This course has been rated as one of the first batch of state-level undergraduate online courses, and it is one of the most popular online courses of Human Resource Management.
Professor Zhu Fei and his team members won the first prize of the First Excellent Teaching Achievement Award of China Human Resource Development Association, the first prize of the Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, the Excellence Award of the 2nd Beijing Teaching Innovation Competition, the Yongjin Teaching Excellence Award of Central University of Finance and Economics and other important teaching awards. He was invited by China Human Resource Development Association and other organizations to deliver keynote lectures on the teaching innovation achievement “Constructivist Experiential Teaching Methodology” on some high-level teaching research forums in this field, such as China Human Resources Management Discipline Development Forum, and won wide acclaim from peers.
Innovative Practices in Integration of Research, Industry and Education, Embedded into Teaching and Social Services
Professor Zhu Fei focuses on the research of corporate employment management innovation and has obtained outstanding research results. Besides, he leads the “Corporate Employment Management Innovation” youth research and innovation team of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), and is selected into the Beijing Youth Talents Program for Colleges and Universities. He has presided over and participated in more than ten national, provincial and ministerial vertical projects, presided over many research projects entrusted by the Research Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Finance and other government departments, published more than 20 papers in authoritative academic journals such as Journal of Vocational Behavior, published two academic monographs, and introduced six translated classics.
Professor Zhu Fei has embedded the innovation in the research-industry-education integration approach into teaching and social services, and has achieved remarkable results. He guides and organizes students to participate in cutting-edge practice tracking research in a participatory and co-creative manner, and applies the observation data and conclusions obtained to courses, in order to stimulate students to actively explore the theoretical logic and mechanism behind practical phenomena. Since 2016, he has initiated the project “Tracking Research on Talent Management Practices in China's Financial Industry” by adopting the mode of co-creation by teachers, students and industrial organizations and utilizing industry background and resources. At present, this research project has produced rich results, including 2 white papers, 5 academic papers in authoritative journals, and 1 research database. The research-industry-education integration approach has organically introduced a lot of vivid research data, cases and results, stimulated students' interest in professional learning and scientific research, and enhanced the deep learning experience and higher-level learning effects of courses. Besides, it has effectively promoted the cultivation of first-class professional talents.
Moreover, Professor Zhu Fei applies his research and teaching expertise to serving major national policies and activities. The results of the research presided over by him were adopted by the Ministry of Finance and served the formulation of relevant national policies. He accepted the special invitation of the Organizing Committee of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and Winter Paralympic Games, specially designed and taught the online course “Team Leadership” to serve the team building of tens of thousands staff of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and Winter Paralympic Games.
