The golden autumn welcomed freshmen. At 13:30 on September 14,2018, the Business School of Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE)held a freshmen inauguration ceremony at Room 206 Academic Hall of CUFE, alongwith an activity themed on “Olympic Champion Goes into Communities,”co-organized with the Sub-District Office of Beixiaguan, Haidian District. Theceremony, presided over by Professor Ge Jianxin, Party Secretary of the School,was attended by guests including Zhao Hongyao, Deputy Director of theSub-District Office of Beixiaguan, Haidian District, Zhang Dan, a lead athleteof Chinese Figure Skating Team, and Hou Kun, a researcher of the HumanisticOlympic Studies Center, Renmin University of China.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Wang Ruihua, Dean ofthe CUFE Business School and Director of the MBA Education Center, delivered aspeech. Dean Wang Ruihua expressed heartfelt welcome and congratulations to 614freshmen on behalf of the faculty and students of the School. Then, he reviewedthe journey of the Business School to become influential step by step over thepast 15 years. Particularly, he mentioned that the business administrationdiscipline of CUFE was accredited as “A-” in the fourth round of NationalDiscipline Evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2017, and that CUFE wasalso a lead player in China’s MBA education. He hoped that the businessadministration discipline of the School could continue to lead the innovativedevelopment of the discipline, strive to get the upper hand, and make students takepride in their alma mater.

Next, the entire faculty from the Strategy Department, Departmentof Marketing, Department of the Organization and Human Resources Management,Department of Supply Chain and Operation Management, and Department ofFinancial Management, and other administrative staff of the Business School andthe MBA program went on stage to greet freshmen.
Then freshmen representatives followed to give speeches. They wereundergraduate Yue Bo, graduate (academic master’s degree candidate) ChenMingbo, doctoral candidate Liu Ning, and graduate (MBA candidate) Zhao Yingfan.

Zhang Dan, the Turin Olympic pairs figure skating silver medalistand world champion, was invited to deliver a lively lesson on the graceful artand culture of Winter Olympics on the first day of class to 2018 freshmen. As aprofessional athlete with 14-year experience, Zhang demonstrated her dedicationto sports and showed her optimistic attitudes toward difficulties. She alsofrankly talked about how she pulled herself together after a fall at the 2006Winter Olympics in Turin and encouraged freshmen to brace themselves for harshtimes, rise to the challenge, and overcome their own fears. At the end of herspeech, Zhang had an interaction with freshmen and shared some rudimentaryknowledge about figure skating and Olympic Games.
